Italbugs was born in 2009 from an idea of Marco Ceriani (food technologist).
During Expo Milan 2015, the project evolved in start up at PTP Science Park of Lodi – Italy, collaborating with Belgium and Zimbabwe pavilions to organize an edible insect tasting. At that time Italbugs presents “PanSeta”: the first-in-the-world traditional italian cake “panettone” with silkworm flour.
Italbugs is the first start up in Italy, and one of the few in Europe, involved in researching and developing safe, eco-friendly and hypoallergenic insects matrices. More precisely, Italbugs is oriented to develope and innovate edible insects products for health market and sport performance.
Italbugs is today an international company with laboratories and production in Wageningen (Kadans Science and Business Park) and office in Italy (PTP-Science Park).
Xducth “clean protein” (from edible insect) is the first product of Italbugs for Health, Sport and Nutraceutical markets.
